Good morning, James and Jim & Debbie, We regularly get spammers who join and bother others. I delete several of them every week. Sorry this one got past me. I'll take care of it in a couple of minutes. All the best, JD

Con artists, thieves, and spammers just trolling for victims. You`ll note most of these have no profile, or have posted a link to a website designed to infect your computer.

Good morning, Michael. You're right. It looks like the Men With Pens site is undergoing some sort of change. Hope the links start working again, soon. I don't even have the main character sketches done, yet! But, I'm thinking about it. Not writer…

I tried those links. Apparently Men with Pens have become Men with A Game to Watch... or something. Anyhow, site down for what I assume is a remodel of some kind. Bummer. I'll try again later. So... as I sit here drumming my fingers on the desktop…

Suggested for Book Lovers

I joined a site a called GoodReads.com and for any of you who like books... or have friends who do... I recommend checking it out.

Similar to facebook, you simply "register" and then you can do whatever you want... as much or as little as you feel. You can set up a profile and begin to fill your "shelves" with books you've "read"... "want to read"... "are reading" etc. etc. You can make "friends" with other members and even… Continue

A Manner of Speaking

I know you've all been around people like this. Loud talkers.

What's with these insecure morons who require all the attention? You know the kind. Whether you're in a private setting or a group activity... regardless of who's talking or how many... this idiot, usually female... will talk over anyone within earshot. Yes, talk OVER… Continue

Fan Feedback

Without fail, every person to finish JUICE: Revolution (so far) has stopped me and asked how long for the sequel.

I guess that's a good sign. Frankly, I've been a little shocked by the responses I've been getting.... make that, pleasantly surprised.

Snippets of Fan Feedback Here.

And to everyone who has stopped me around town to share a friendly comment about the article in the paper this week… Continue

SQUEEZE ME?

A hug is form of physical intimacy - the closing of the arms around another person. The hug is probably the most common human sign of love and affection. A hug is a simple action that conveys different messages for different people and circumstances but generally a hug expresses positive feelings.

A hug is truly wonderful because it is both physical and psychological as it generates emotions and can even trigger memories. A hug is primarily a form of non-verbal communication. It brings people t… Continue

Allure of Vampires

(excerpt from an original article)

Exploring the fascination humans have with the fantasy characters in literature and film will plunge you into a world of inconsistencies and contradictions. What lies in wait are the ingredients for varieties of concocted tales that rely upon the imaginative tastes of the author’s pen. And from that pool of boundless fiction, many an author has produced a delicious treat that appears in the form of a mysterious, yet easily recognized figure. Though they vary f… Continue

10 Night Shift

Struggling to get a grip on the situation while events seem to be spinning out of control, Dak is faced with a new set of problems.

His security guys show up, but so do some of the "foreigners." Why? What is he missing? What is Jillian keeping from him?

All this and trying to keep Chang alert enough to get his notes organized. It was going to be a long night.

EXCERPTS

“Believe I’ll stand.” My voice reflected my irritation. My h… Continue

Just kidding. But, my books finally got here. Shared them with a few folks at work yesterday and got overwhelming responses... which was fun. Did my first autograph, too!

2 New Friends

It's been a fun week. I started Monday with a personal meeting, getting together with Scott Stambaugh at the Daily Grind. Scott wanted to interview me for an article in the Cherokee Scout, due out next week.

Getting to know Scott, as we chatted, was a lot of fun. He's smart and sharp as a tack. And his natural sense of humor is right up my alley. Great guy!

Then, I found myself swapping emails with John Dilbeck, discussing my new boContinue

Log Home Restoration: Stripped & Sealed

This short Photo Show of our latest log home restoration shows a few before and after shots I thought someone may find interesting.

The cabin had a clear finish applied several years prior but most had worn away. An oil based semi-transparent sealer was applied by brush after the home was completely stripped to remove any old finish, degraded wood, dirt and mildew. Hop… Continue

I am thankful for being able to live here in Murphy

Good afternoon.

Yesterday, I spent almost all day in town, talking to business owners I already knew, meeting new ones, and spreading the word about Murphy Connections and Murphy Gold.

As the day progressed, I was reminded, all over again, how much I love living here and how much I appreciate the people who have lived here all their lives and others, like me, who have chosen to move here.

Murphy isn't perfect, but it's the best place I've ever lived.

Have you ever noticed how clean the town… Continue

Thank you, veterans

Today is a national holiday for celebrating the end of World War I, and which later became a holiday to celebrate veterans of all US wars.

To some it may sound trite, but to others it is a deeply held, heartfelt bit of wisdom: Freedom isn't free.

For every war that the United States has fought, there have been thousands or even millions of our neighbors, friends, and family slogging in the mud, freezing in the cold, burning in the heat, and being exposed to things and events that nobody wants… Continue

Happy birthday, Mom. I miss you.

This has been an emotional day for me. It's Mom's first birthday since she died almost a year ago. I didn't want to be alone in the house, so I left early this morning and was gone all day.

I tried to keep my mind off of this and not dwell on it, but whenever I was driving, I would return to memories of her. I thought of her when I was young and she was so active and friendly. I thought of her after she moved to Murphy and she and Dad loved living here and met great friends. Then, without warni… Continue

"Tamar and I did lots and lots of research on kid birthday parties and started experimenting with our ideas on kids and during parties whenever the opportunity arose. We wrote up lots of content for the site and I was in charge of strategy and building the site from a technical aspect (although, with Site Build It!, you really don't need any technical knowledge because you can build a site through simple building blocks and monitor every aspect of traffic through a consolidated control center.). In no time, both of us became kid birthday junkies." ~ Elad Shippony coolest-parties.com
